Originally, it was an annual event that took place around the month of May and was part of the agro-pastoral calendar of the nomads. These meetings were an opportunity to meet, buy, sell and exchange food and other products, organize dromedary and horse breeding competitions, celebrate weddings and consult herbalists. The Moussem was also a pretext for the manifestation of various cultural expressions: musical performances, popular songs, games, poetry contests and other Hassani oral traditions.
